＜ミニ解説＞
「60, the national retirement age」の箇所は同格の用法です。
つまり、60歳という年齢の意味を「,」以下で改めて説明して
います。
「Retired Husband Syndrome (RHS)」は、ここではほぼ英語に
忠実な「退職夫症候群」としましたが、「主人在宅ストレス症候群」
という表現もありました。昔はやった「ぬれ落ち葉」は意訳しすぎ
ですかね^^;
2つ目の文は英語的な表現です。簡単にいうと、
The idea makes them depressed and sick.
→ その考えが彼女らを憂うつにさせ、気分を悪くさせる。
日本語らしくすると、
→ そう考えただけで彼女らは憂うつになり、気分が悪くなる。
すなわち、「their husbands being at home」→「ダンナが
（もう会社へ行かずに）ずっと家におるんやわ〜」と想像した
だけで・・・ということですね。
ちなみに、どういう症状が出るかというと、

asthma （ぜんそく）
high blood pressure（高血圧）
・・・等々いろいろあるようです。
こんなふうに思われるダンナさんもある意味かわいそうですが、
症状に苦しむ奥さまも気の毒です。
