＜ミニ解説＞
文部科学省の正式名は文中では省略して「Ministry of
Education」としましたが、正式名はこうなります↓
(the) Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science
and Technology
省庁再編でやたら長い名前になってしまいました^^;
「following ＝ 〜にしたがって」なので、もちろんIAUの
決定が先で、それを受けて教科書の変更を決めたわけです。
この場合、「after」に置き換えてもOKです。
ちなみに「dwarf planet＝矮惑星」というのは仮の呼び方
です。正式名はまだ決まっていないそうです。
それにしても、今まで冥王星の名で親しんできたのに、
今後は、小惑星と共通で使う通し番号「134340番」で
呼ばれるんだそうですね。
人間が勝手につけた区分なんだけど、星の世界にも
栄枯盛衰があるなあ、なんて感慨に浸ってしまいます。
